William “Bill” Douglas, 74, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Wednesday, January 05, 2011. Memorial Services will 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2-3:00 p.m. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital, Oncology Dept., 2401 Gillham Rd., Kansas City, MO 64108. Bill was born November 10, 1936 in Summit, NJ to Frederick and Grace (Fleming) Douglas. Mr. Douglas proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the Laborers Union local #1290. Bill was a member of the Tri-State Pullers and known as Mr. Wilson from the neighborhood kids. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carol (Ball) Douglas; daughters Sherry Whitmarsh and husband Mark, Bonnie Vaness and husband David, Heather Miles and husband Derek; seven grandchildren who loved their “Pops” dearly; brother Paul Douglas and wife Janet; sister-in-law Judy Douglas; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Freddie and Peter.
