Evelyn `Dourty

Evelyn A. Dourty, 83, Independence, MO passed away April 23, 2011. A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00 am, Sat, April 30, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Brooking Cemetery so she may join her family there. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Bethel Baptist Church, 2406 S. 291 Hwy., Independence, MO 64055.
Evelyn was born Feb. 29, 1928 in Brookhaven, MS. She lived all of her adult life in Independence, MO and graduated from Northeast High School. She worked for the Vendo Company for twelve years retiring in 1980. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved to travel and had visited places all over the world. She also loved to attend gospel music festivals.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of sixty-three years Don Dourty, of the home; sons Robert Dourty and wife Deborah, Lee’s Summit, MO; Donald Dourty, Independence, MO; grandsons Justin R. Dourty and Patrick L. Dourty, both of Lee’s Summit, MO.
