Ira V. “Bud” Downey, 86, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Independence Lions Club, PO Box 49, Independence, MO 64050. Bud was born May 1, 1925 in Albuquerque, NM to Ira and Rosa Lee (Alverson) Downey. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Roberta (Fizer) Downey; children Jan Guenther and husband Sam, Ronald Downey and wife Karen, Rick Downey and wife Janet; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Kathryn Dickey; brother-in-law R.L. Fizer.
