William R. "Bill" Downing

William R. "Bill� Downing, 82, Raytown, MO passed away Thursday June 17, 2004 at St. Mary�s Hospital Blue Springs. Memorial Services are 2:00 pm Tuesday June 22, 2004 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Monday June 21st at the chapel. Cremation. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Shriners Children�s Hospital or the American Cancer Society. Bill was born April 8, 1922 in Birmingham, MO to Leslie and Lucille (Smith) Downing. Mr. Downing loved sitting in his recliner watching wrestling, game shows or old reruns on T.V. He was known as an outspoken person who called it as he saw it. Bill is survived by his daughters and their husbands Beverly and John Nevin of Blue Springs, MO, Debe and Jim Edwards of Blue Springs, MO, Mona and Gerry Forbach of Raytown, MO; grandchildren Bill and Melissa Nevin, Beth Fair, Robert Malone, Amber Nevin, James Edwards, Jay Nevin, Heather Edwards, Morgan Forbach; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws Helen Gibson, Dorothy Wylie; brother-in-laws William and wife Florence Wylie, Neil Wylie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Downing was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Downing in 1980.
