Juanita Downs

Juanita Marie (Shrout) Downs, 90, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Rosewood Health Center at The Groves. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 3-5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Speaks. Burial in Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Juanita was born February 1, 1919 in Independence, MO to Alma and Alice (Joice) Campbell. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren and church. She loved her family dearly! Juanita co-owned and operated with her husband Kenneth, Cedar Point Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks and retired as an Accountant from the Community of Christ Church. Mrs. Downs sang in the Messiah Choir for 30 years and enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting and other crafts in her spare time. Juanita is survived by her daughter Barbara Day and husband Joe; sons Kenneth W. Shrout, Jr., Howard L. Shrout and wife Heather; grandchildren Kathlyn Hardin and husband Shawn, Kenneth H. Shrout and wife Beth, Kimberly Brown and husband Shawn, Jennifer Skinner and husband Shannon, Jason and Joey Shrout, Jessica Wolfe; six great-grandchildren; sisters Norma Hacker, Maleta Meek. She was preceded in death by her husbands Kenneth Shrout, Sr., Harley Downs; sister Helen Solomon; brother Ernie Campbell.
