James E. “Jim” Dumsky, 80 of Sugar Creek, MO passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at Hidden Lake Care Center in Raytown, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church 11231 Chicago Ave., Sugar Creek, MO 64054. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. There will be a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., followed by family visitation until 8:30 p.m., Monday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Cyril’s Catholic Church or to the Citizens Civic Relief Commission, 604 N. Sterling Avenue, Sugar Creek, MO 64054. Jim was born June 15, 1931 in Sugar Creek, MO to Peter A. and Anna M. (Clemens) Dumsky and was a lifelong Sugar Creek resident graduating from Northeast High School in 1948. Following graduation he worked for the Standard Oil Company and later enlisted in the US Marine Corp and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1952-54. He worked for over 30 years for the Gas Service Company and retired in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports, especially baseball of which he coached and played. He played baseball for the Marine Corps as well. He was a member of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Teresa (Ptacek) of the home; six children, Coleen M. Coats and husband Butch of Buckner, MO, Peter A. Dumsky of Sugar Creek, MO, John A. Dumsky and wife Darlene of Lee’s Summit, MO, Paul J. Dumsky and wife Julie of Blue Springs, MO, Mark L. Dumsky and wife Becky of Oak Grove, MO and Patricia A. O’Malley and husband Peter of Olathe, KS; a brother, Larry E. Dumsky of St. Louis, MO; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Hidden Lake Care Center and Aseracare Hospice.
