Morris Dunning, Jr., 92, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away, Sunday, October 5, 2014 at John Knox Village. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Wednesday at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Kay Dunning Nursing Scholarship Fund c/o the Truman Heartland Community Foundation. Morris was born December 29, 1921 in Independence, MO to Hugh M. Dunning, Sr. and Helen (Fager) Dunning and has been a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Northeast High School and attended KC Junior College. He had worked for Armco Steel Company for 39 years until he retired in 1982. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Independence, the Boy Scouts of America and the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was married to Kathryn M. (Fisher) on April 14, 1946; she died on October 14, 2004. He is survived by; 2 daughters, Frances Haney and husband Larry of Butler, MO and Susan Willeke and husband Ron Lee’s Summit, MO; a son, Don Dunning and wife Donna of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
