Leonard A. Dye, 86, Independence, MO passed away Sept. 22, 2009. Services will be 10 am, Thursday Sept. 24, 2009 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed. at the funeral home.
Leonard was born July 8, 1923 in Richmond, MO. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, a member of Rockwood Baptist Church and the Steelworkers Union. He worked at Armco Steel for forty years and retired in 1985. He loved working in his vegetable garden and woodworking.
Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Dye; and sisters Ailean Stanley, Helen Mumma and Velma Jackson. He is survived by wife Gerry Dye; of the home; daughter Marilyn Weimer and husband Jerry, Independence, MO; sister Dorothy Hayes, Lynchburg, VA; brother Henry Coleman and wife Joan, Dighton, KS; sister Blanch Stanley and husband Kenny, Raytown, MO; brother Don Coleman and wife Fern, Independence, MO; grandchildren Stacey Lewis and husband Gary, Oak Grove, MO; Chris Weimer and wife Kelly, Lee’s Summit, MO; great-grandchildren Michael, Steven, Ryan, David, Jacob and Evan and great-great-granddaughter Aubriana.
