Ruth Ellen Eads, 96, Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Buckner Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 pm Saturday at Speaks Buckner Chapel; 300 Adams St. Buckner, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes.
Ruth was born January 4, 1915 in Buckner, MO the daughter of David C. and Emma May (Craven) Vance. She was a graduate of Buckner High School. Ruth was employed with Lake City Ammunition as an inspector until 1952, when her daughter contracted polio. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence and a member of the Polio Club and supporter of the March of Dimes. Ruth married Reece Hudson in 1938, they later divorced.
She married Gilbert Eads in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was also preceded in death by her stepson, Jack Eads; brother, David Vance, Jr., sister, Maurine McCormick and her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ellen Hudson Place and her husband Thomas; stepdaughters, Roma Dea Payne and Martha Ann Foster; sister, Virginia Bogue and many step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family.
