Betty Eckinger

Betty J. Eckinger, 81, of Grain Valley, MO passed away Friday, November 21, 2008. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House. Betty was born October 11, 1927 in Independence, MO to Tod and Madeline (Astin) Buford and later raised by Yula May (Astin) Buford. She co-owned and operated Bill’s Meat Market in Independence. Betty later went to work and retired from Montgomery Ward & Co. in 1982. Mrs. Eckinger is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill Eckinger, Jr.; sons Bill Eckinger III, Steve Eckinger; grandchildren Bethany and Mike King, Stephanie and Chris Williams, Brett Eckinger; great-grandchildren Marisa and Tyler Williams; sisters Katie Harber, Madeline Shirley. Betty was preceded in death by her brother Bud Buford.
