James Evans “Jim” Eddy, 87, Overland Park, KS formerly of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013.
Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church; 14506 E. 39th St. Independence. Burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO with military honors.
Jim was born January 16, 1926, in Lincoln, NE the son of Herbert Harrison and Ethel Irene (Evans) Eddy. He was a U.S. Army-Air Corp. Veteran of WWII. Jim married Roberta Larcom in 1948. He was a 1949 graduate of the University of Denver with a B.A. in Business Administration. He retired from City Bond & Mortgage Company and finished his career at Standard State Bank. Jim was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was an Eagle Scout, and a past commander of the VFW Post #1738. He was an avid KU Basketball fan.
Survivors include his daughters, Betsy Suptic, Becky Gilliland and husband Milton Debbie Thatcher and husband Randy; grandchildren, Susan VanWagoner, and Jim Suptic; great granddaughters, Amelia and Talulah Suptic; sister, Kathy Eicholz; and additional nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Eddy in 2007; sister, Mary Hoehns; and his parents.
