Obituary

Eileen Mary Greathouse

Eileen Mary Harkins Joseph Greathouse, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home, on August 21, 2026, at the age of 66.

Eileen was born on June 7, 1960, on Staten Island, New York, to William Leslie and Eileen Borgia Harkins (née Seiler). Throughout her life, Eileen brought her own special sparkle to everything she did. She had a vibrant personality, a wonderful sense of humor, and a love for the things that made life fun.

Eileen enjoyed spending time on Facebook, shopping, going out to eat, and going to the theater. She loved a good romantic comedy and could always be counted on to enjoy a Hallmark movie. She treasured playing card games and keeping up with her favorite soap operas. Eileen also loved fashion and was never afraid to make a statement. Bold animal prints, a little—or a lot—of bling, and anything that let her personality shine were right up her alley.

Eileen worked as an echocardiograph coordinator, where she dedicated many years to her work and to helping others.

Above all, Eileen cherished her family and the time she spent with the people she loved. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Keith Alan Greathouse; her children, Jeremy Daniel Joseph, Jillian Rachel Joseph (Kevin Erich) Nieweg, and Matthew Michael Greathouse; her sister, Colleen Ann Harkins (Todd Joseph) Jimboy; her sister-in-law, Ingrid Harkins McNicholas; her mother-in-law, Peggy Ann Greathouse; her sister-in-law, Jeri Lynn Bailey; her brother-in-law, John Eric (Jacqueline Kay) Greathouse; and her nieces and nephews, Sean Patrick Harkins, Harrison Neil Harkins, Emily Yen Harkins, Jacob Daniel Greathouse, Jamie Nicole Behrendt and Jeremy Daniel Greathouse.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, William Leslie Harkins and Eileen Borgia Harkins; her brother, William Joseph Harkins; her father-in-law, Paul Eugene Greathouse and her brother-in-law, David Bruce Greathouse.

Eileen leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and stories that will continue to be shared by those who knew her. Her bold spirit, generous heart, and unmistakable sense of style will never be forgotten. She will be missed more than words can express and remembered with love by her family and friends.

Services will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055, on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m.
