Elaine Ruth Schroeder

Elaine Ruth Schroeder, 84 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Good Shepherd Community Hospice House in Concordia, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 613 S. Main St., Independence, MO 64050 with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Elaine was born January 9, 1942 in Sweet Springs, MO to Herbert and Esther (Kiehl) Wolpers and has been a longtime area resident. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. She was married to Robert Schroeder in July of 1962 and had many years together until his passing in 2019 She was devoted follower of Jesus and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she belonged to the LWML (Lutherans Women’s Missionary League). She is survived by; 2 children, Karen Schroeder of Lee’s Summit, MO and James Schroeder of Independence, MO and a brother, Les Wolpers of Overland Park, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter, Christine Schroeder in 1988.
