Eloise Burmahl, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday November 5, 2025 at the age of 91. “Ellie” was born on May 27, 1934 to Leonard Larkey and Katherine E. Edwards in Jackson County, Iowa. She married Wayne L. Burmahl on April 18, 1954, in Maquoketa, Iowa, and was happily married for over 71 years. She delighted in her family with her witty sense of humor, a love for ice cream, and some wonderful memories. She was a remarkable lady and her family was blessed to have her. Ellie was a member of First United Methodist Church and a retiree from Hallmark Cards.
Ellie will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Wayne; daughter, Lori Shultz (Robert) of Harrisburg, Missouri, and a son, Richard Burmahl (Teresa) on Independence: four grandchildren, Christophere Burmahl of New Mexico, Kelly Stahlman (Michael) of Holts Summit, Brad Shultz (Rachel) of Bend, Oregon, Beth Reule (Ross) of Liberty: six great grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, Ruth, Caleb, Cole and Cameron: and a sister Carole Larkey of Davenport, Iowa. Preceding her in death are her parents, a sister, Marian Dahl and great grandchild, Micah.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made directly to the First United Methodist Church in Independence, Missouri or to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
