Kenneth E. Engstrom, 82, Independence, MO passed away June 25, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; cremation. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at 5 pm. The family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
Ken was born June 8, 1928 in Melcher, IA. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. In 1959 he founded Engstrom & Sons Roofing Co., which he continued to operate until his death. He was a Seventh Day Adventist and was instrumental in building a church in Independence, MO. and founding a church in Oak Grove, MO. He was an elder and lay minister. He was a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International. God and his family were the most important things to Ken. He enjoyed flying and owned his own planes. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling the world.
Ken is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Julie Engstrom, of the home; son Steve Engstrom and wife Kim; daughter Marsha Carillo and husband Paul; son Mark Engstrom, all of Independence, MO; sisters Geraldine Cline and husband Marlin, Montrose, CO; Marlene Zook and husband Dean, Florida; grandchildren Courtney Lockhart and husband Chris, Blue Springs, MO; Bryan Engstrom, Everett, WA; great-grandchildren Alex Engstrom-Lockhart, Wyatt Lockhart and Quientin Lockhart.
