Paul L. Erickson, Sr., 90, Independence, MO died January 6, 2008. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Ridgewood Community of Christ Church with cremation to follow. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Paul was born July 28, 1917 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Westport High School in 1934. Over the years Paul worked for Jenkins Music Company, RCA, Mayflower Sales, A. Reich & Sons and Friedrich Refrigeration in sales. In 1969, Paul purchased Bill Scurlock A/C & Heating, 2713 Cherry, K.C., MO and operated it until 1983, at which time he sold the business to his two sons. He then donated several years working for the RLDS church in estate planning. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, a great-grandchild, and Florence, his wife of 62 years, whom he adored. He is survived by his sons Paul L. Erickson, Jr. and wife Susan, Independence, MO; Chuck Erickson and wife Cherie, Olathe, KS; grandchildren Leslie Adkins and husband Mike, Independence, MO; Danica Rome and husband Kirk, Gladstone, MO; Bryan Erickson, Independence; Ryan McSpadden and wife Lori, Naperville, IL; Marci Patton and husband Sean, St. Peters, MO; great-grandchildren Connor Adkins, Grant McSpadden, Madison Rome, Drew McSpadden, Emma Patton and Brody Adkins; and many nieces and nephews. Paul was a consummate salesman who loved people. He and Florence enjoyed traveling with friends and family and being winter “snowbirds” in retirement years. Always proud of his Swedish lineage, Paul’s gifts of personality and generosity were shared with everyone he met. His teasing humor, genuine kindness and gentle spirit will be missed by all.
