Robert C. Eriksen, 88, Independence, MO passed away June 11, 2011. A memorial service will begin at 10 am, Friday, June 17, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055 followed by a private committal service at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 am before the service. The family suggests contributions to the Heart of America Chapter, Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Robert was born Aug. 5, 1922 in Falls City, NE. He was a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy and UMKC. On March 4, 1948, he married Louise Harnsbarger. He was a WW II veteran and a retired Colonel of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. During his military service he attended the Staff and Command School at Ft. Leavenworth. Following his service he worked as an engineer for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Robert later was co-owner of the Protection Sprinkler Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge York Rite #48 of Falls City, NE and a Lutheran.
Robert is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Louise Eriksen of the home; cousins Tom Cormode, Oakton VA; Joan Nelson-Hale and husband Walt, Topeka, KS; Carla Behrends and husband Bernard, Manhattan, KS; four nieces and three nephews.
