Erlyne Winnifred Edwards was born April 13, 1930, in Sault St. Marie, Ontario, to George Alberto Edwards and Ada (Robh) Edwards. Erlyne was the 5th of 11 children. Erlyne was baptized by her father into the RLDS church on June 12, 1938.
Erlyne married Richard Robinson on August 10, 1950. Erlyne and Richard welcomed their daughter, Nancy, on December 20, 1956, and son, David, on May 13, 1962. Richard passed away in August of 1997.
Erlyne met Paul Gress in 2000 at a church reunion in Oklahoma. They were married on January 8, 2001.
Erlyne taught school for 47 years. Her first teaching post as a teenager of 17 required her to take a train for an hour and a half, leaving home on Sunday. She lived at the school all week, then returned home to her parents on Friday. Erlyne taught every elementary grade during her early career. She also took over as the school music teacher for a number of years. She finished her career as a librarian. Erlyne was awarded Teacher of the Year in Ontario. Her choirs and band groups won numerous awards at music festivals across Canada and the USA.
Erlyne is survived by her daughter, Nancy D'Agostino (Paul) of Canmore, Alberta; son, David Robinson (Kelly) of Kingsville, Ontario; step-daughter, Lucinda Gress Jones of Independence, MO; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Mary, Margaret, and Sharon; and one brother, Donald.
Erlyne will be inurned in Sault St. Marie, Ontario with her family.
