Ruth Anne Eubanks, 64, Independence, MO departed this life Friday, April 26, 2013. She was born on April 14, 1949 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Ruth Anne moved to Independence, MO with her family when she was two years old. Ruth Anne was a lifelong teacher and spent most of her career in the Independence Public School District teaching K-8th grades. She also taught at Graceland and Rockhurst Universities. Ruth Anne was an avid historian and was the Daughters of the American Revolution Teacher of the Year. She and her husband hosted 14 foreign exchange daughters and sons and opened their home to many more. Ruth Anne was an elder in the Community of Christ Church and lived her life as a woman of faith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances (Bessie) Lachance; and father Elvin J. Lachance. Ruth Anne is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bennie L. Eubanks, Jr.; her children, Kathleen Eubanks-Meng and her husband Mark Meng of Blue Springs, MO, Amy Hawley and her husband David of Independence; 5 grandchildren: Ashley, Taylor and Rachel Meng, and Samuel and Alexandria Hawley; her brother, Joseph Lachance and his wife Nancy; and their daughters Tamara (Doug) Hoeppner and Stephanie (Keith) Sundberg. The family will receive friends on May 10, 2013 from 6-8 pm and a celebration of life will occur on May 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. both at Speaks Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, the Family requests memorials to Outreach International.
