Bill Evans

August 31, 1934 — February 27, 2007

Bill Evans 72, of Independence, MO passed away February 27, 2007, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Noland Road Baptist Church. Interment in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 pm -9:00 pm on Friday, March 2, 2007 at the church. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Bill was born on August 31, 1934 in Mercedes, TX to Link V. and Pebble Beatrice (Palmer) Evans. He was a 1952 graduate from Northeast High School. After high school, Bill went to work for Union Wire Rope until he retired as General Foreman of the maintenance department in 1987. He then went to work managing several Waits Service Stations. In 1991, Bill started his second career, and perhaps the most fulfilling one, working for the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney�s office. Bill was in on the ground floor with the newly formed DART team, and worked closely with the Kansas City Police Department closing drug houses around the city. He was an avid sports fan, and played softball and basketball for many years. Left to mourn his loss are his wife Sharon Evans, of the home, Children; Michael L. Evans, Lisa M. Harris and husband Kevin, and Elizabeth A. Pace and husband Monte. Other survivors include step children David C. Sellens and wife Allison, Kate L. Sellens, Shannon E. Sellens, 5 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, (with two on the way), sister Evelyn Coleman and husband J.R., sister Ginny Dresser, and brother James Evans and wife Melody. Bill also leaves behind a very large extended family and friends.
