John Evans

John Evans, 70, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, March 20th 2013 surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 25th at Blue Ridge Assembly of God; 740 Blue Ridge Blvd. Kansas City, MO. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26th at the church; cremation to follow.
John was born October 8th 1942 in Marshall, MO to Raymond and Alice (Herndon) Evans. After graduating high school he joined the United States Air Force and received top scores for testing in the, then, new Doppler Radar System. John married Carolyn (Smith) on September 14th 1963 and together they raised four children and later, one grandchild. He worked from 1969 – 2009 for TWA Airlines as an Inspector and Mechanic. John was also a member of the Machinist Union turned AFLCIO. He attended Blue Ridge Assembly of God for many years with his family. John especially enjoyed his Ham radio and was a member of the AM/FM club; handle KC0FE. He also loved working on cars and was the family mechanic. John is loved and will be missed.
He is survived by wife, Carol of almost 50 years; daughter Debbie Hoskins (Steve) of Kansas City, MO; son, David Evans of Independence, MO; daughter, Diane Evans-Squire (Delbert) of Holt, MO; daughter, Denise Evans of Independence, MO; fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brothers Ken Evans (Linda) of Kansas City, MO and Karl Evans (Carita) of Independence, MO; sister, Ramona Evans of Independence, MO; brothers, Randy Evans (Karen) of Lake Dallas, TX; and Glenn Evans (Val) of Independence, MO; he was preceded in death by his parents.
