A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2:00 pm, at Speaks Chapel, 18020 E 39th Street, Independence, MO. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Gamber Center Fund, care of Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation, 220 SE Green Street, Lee’ Summit, MO 64063; or Lee’s Summit Shepherd Center, care of Lee’s Summit Christian Church, 800 NE Tudor Road, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64086.
Charlotte, the only child of Harry and Bertha (Laase) Hoffman, was born on July 18, 1918, in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio. Her childhood years were spent in Ohio. Charlotte married Thomas Fallen on November 21, 1942. They moved to Kansas City in 1947, where they lovingly raised two sons, Jerry and Ray, and two daughters, Mary and Ruth. Shortly after Thomas’s death in 1982, Charlotte moved to Lee’s Summit. She became very active in the senior community, participating in and volunteering with Shepherd’s Center and Adults Over 55. Charlotte was instrumental in establishing the first senior center in Lee’s Summit, serving on the founding board, speaking to senior groups to rally support and at City Council meetings to obtain funding. She enjoyed traveling with Richard’s Fun Time Tours and spending time with friends.
More than anything, Charlotte loved her family. She dedicated much of her life to raising her children and helping with grandchildren. They were her greatest joy. Charlotte will be fondly remembered for her devotion to family, her strength and determination, and her love of ice cream (we just had to throw that in).
