Fern Harding Farnsworth, 86, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Monday, January 11, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Fern was born August 8, 1923 in Blairstown, MO the son of Samuel Allen and Bertie R. (Hixon) Farnsworth. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Fern was employed with Hallmark for 23 years, retiring in 1969. He was then employed with Herald House Publishing as a bindery foreman, retiring after 17 years. Fern was a member of Community of Christ and attended the Heritage House Congregation. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing pool and he especially loved spending time with his family.
Fern was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys in 2003; three sisters; two brothers; and his parents.
Survivors include his children; daughter, Marjorie Kruel of Independence; son, Sam Farnsworth of Lee’s Summit; daughter, Debbie Farnsworth of Gardner, KS; daughter, Beverly Nipper of Independence; son, Jerry Farnsworth; and daughter, Pam Suddarth all of Independence; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Gilbert Farnsworth of Tatamy, PA; and Paul Farnsworth of Pleasant Hill; as well as numerous nieces and nephews
