Anna Mae Farris, 92, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away June 8, 2009. Services will be at 10 am, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel with visitation preceding beginning at 9 am. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday at Graceland Cemetery in Weston, MO. The family suggests contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Anna Mae was born June 20, 1916 in Weston, MO to Charles & Pearl (Norris) Steele. She lived most of her life in the Kansas City area and worked as a sales clerk at the Sears & Roebuck store on Cleveland Ave. for twenty-one years before retiring in 1981. She has been a member of the Bales Baptist Church since 1952 where she taught Sunday school and ministered to shut-ins. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed quilting, gardening and reading her Bible.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband John W. Farris; daughter Kathleen Farris; sons Phillip Farris, David Farris; two brothers and a sister. She is survived by daughter Judy Hicks and husband Garry, Lee’s Summit, MO; grandsons Michael Hicks his wife Brook, and their children Paden and Carter, Kansas City, MO; Jeffrey Hicks and wife Patty, and their children Thane, Miles and Colby, Independence, MO.
