John Michael Felz, 65, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 7, 2023.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Hugh and Marie Ann Felz, a nephew, Sam Rickner and a niece, Oakley Felz.
John leaves behind his wife, Sherry, of 41 years, two children, Drew Felz and Ally Williams (Ben). He also leaves behind 2 grandchildren, Reese and Carson Williams. John is survived by his siblings, Joann Rickner, Janet Stretz (Scott), Jean Guetterman (Gary), Jim Felz (Kim), Joyce Barton (Greg) and Joe Felz (Stacey); sister-in-laws, Roxanne (Norman) Johnson and Brandy (Victor) Dupuis; Step-mother Shirley Felz and 2 step-sisters, Debie (Gary) Hattock and Deann (Al) Miller along with many nieces and nephews.
John graduated from Raytown High School in 1975, Rockhurst University in 1979 with a BA in accounting and 1989 with a master’s degree in finance. John dedicated 42 years to his career as the Director of Regulatory Affairs in the telecommunications industry.
Of all the things, John was most proud of his family. He loved spending time with them. The grandchildren brought him immense joy. An avid runner, many would see him running throughout Independence. Being outdoors working in the yard and maintaining his pool and his many home improvement projects brought him great happiness.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 15, 10:00AM at Nativity of Mary in Independence, Missouri. Celebration of life will be held later that day at The Delaware in Independence from 4:00-8:00PM.
