Maurine Fendrick

Maurine Josephine Fendrick, 89, of Independence, MO, passed away, Monday, October 1, 2007 at her residence. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2007 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Maurine was born August 15, 1918 in Leigh, NE to Joseph E. and Elizabeth (Mastny) Rayman. She graduated from high school in Leigh, NE before receiving her teachers certificate from Wayne State Teachers College. She taught school for a short time and during WWII when her husband was called to duty she went to work as a secretary for a company that built warplanes in Council Bluffs, IA. She later worked for Butler Manufacturing until she retired in 1981. She enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing, gardening and canning. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She was married to Lumir Fendrick for over 61 years until his death in 2002. Survivors include; a daughter, Iris Thompson and her husband Randy of Independence, MO; a sister, Dorothy Elston of Columbus, NE; a brother, Joseph Ryman of Columbus, NE; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Hugh Fendrick in 1983, a brother, Donald Rayman and a sister, Sylvia Hruska in 2007.
