James W. “Jim” Ferguson, 88, of Independence, MO passed July 1, 2010 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. with a 10:00 a.m. service to follow on Tuesday, July 6, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial at Salem Cemetery. Jim was born January 24, 1922 at his family farm in Cloud County, KS to David and Mabel (Adams) Ferguson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippine’s during WWII. In 1986, after 31 years, he retired from Certain-Teed Saint Gobain, where he had worked as a line foreman. Jim loved his Corvette, he loved fishing, but most of all, he loved his family, especially his wonderful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bessie Ferguson in 1977; three brothers; and three sisters. Jim is survived by his three children, Kathryn Duren and husband Darrell, James W. Ferguson II, Ressa Flaig and husband Chris; one sister, Genevieve Cuppy; eight grandchildren, Kristy Gatti, Lori Dorman, Scot Flaig, Andrea Duren, Alicia Zeiger, James W. Ferguson III, Julie Lehane, Jacob Ferguson; nine great grandchildren, Jack, Mia, Olivia, Bailey, Sydnei, Ava, Jordan, Jenna, Jameson; and two step daughters, Francene Eubanks and husband Charles, Janet Smith and husband Ron and their families.
