Rickey Dale Forbes, Sugar Creek, MO passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 at his home from pancreatic cancer.
Rick was born in Independence, MO on August 23, 1951, and was a 1969 graduate Van Horn School. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Rick served four years in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post #21 in Independence. Rick worked for MODOT for over 20 years and for the City of Independence at the Sermon Center for several years.
Rick was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Alice Forbes; brothers, Charles Forbes and Eddie Forbes; sisters, Floy Collens and Evelyn Daniels.
Survivors include Rick’s devoted companion, Winona Brownfield; brothers, Kenny Forbes and David Forbes; sisters, Mary Kilgore and Shirley Phillips and many, many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home
