Frances Ellene Stoecklein passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. Fran was born on September 22, 1935, in Independence, Missouri to George and Mary (Boutte) Van Maele.
She attended St. Mary’s High School in the class of 1953 and graduated from CMSU in 1956 with a BS in Education.
Frances married Melvin Stoecklein on June 20,1959, and to this union were born 5 children. Loving her family was her lifelong passion.
Fran is survived by her children, Ellene Laughlin, Steve Stoecklein (Lynne), Michelle Oldham (Scott), Brian Stoecklein (Michelle) and Scott Stoecklein (Lynn); grandchildren, Kellan, Kendyl, Tristan (Jasmine), Gentry, Donovan, Cody, Sydni, Kahner, Max and Sam; and great-grandchildren, Rylen and Kaiden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Stoecklein; parents, George and Mary Van Maele; siblings (Mary Alice, Henry, George), and son-in-law, Dennis.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7th from 9-10 AM at Carson Speaks Chapel in Independence, MO. Service at 10:00am followed by burial at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fran’s 8-year-old great-great nephew, Weston, through Fight Dirty. Weston has bravely battled several life-threatening conditions (acute myeloid leukemia, glioma brain tumor, graft-versus-host disease). paypal.me/fightdirty18 or Venmo @fightdirty18.
