Genevieve M. Francis, 84, Independence, MO passed away Monday, June 29, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center.
Memorial services will be 7:00 PM Thursday, July 2, 2009 at The Community Room at the Groves, 1515 W. White Oak, Independence, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Thursday at The Community Room. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Outreach International, 129 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64050.
Genevieve was born June 17, 1925 in Holyoke, CO the daughter of Ward and Elva May (Merchant) Hougas. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church, where she served as an Elder and was an Ordained Minister. She enjoyed spending time in the mountains hiking and seeing all that nature offered.
Survivors include her husband Melvin E. Francis of 64 years; daughter, Bonnie Avery and her husband Ken of Toronto, Canada; son, Ward Francis and his wife Jeanne of Independence, MO; five grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and brother, Melvin Hougas of Independence, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
