Nancy Kay Francis (Mulkey)

November 25, 1961 — April 24, 2015

Nancy Kay Francis, 53, Independence, MO passed away at home on Friday April 24, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 2:30 pm, Wed. April 28 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel. The family requests contributions to Ronald McDonald House, 2502 Cherry St, Kansas City, MO 64108. She was born Nov. 25, 1961 in Tulsa, OK and moved to the Kansas City area as a child. She graduated from Blue Springs High School and served four years in the United States Navy. She had her beloved son, Jonathan Francis, in 1983 and soon after married the love of her life, Daniel Francis. She inherited two daughters, Nikki and Carrie, with this bond and loved them as her own. Nancy spent the last years of her career working for MHC, Inc. in Kansas City. Her passions in life included being Mom and Mimi and spending time with family. She was a nurturer by nature and always made sure everyone had their needs met, even if having to sacrifice her own. True to person, she did so, even while showing her cancer who was in charge. Her favorite days of the week were weekend days, of course. She loved Friday date night with her love and could often be found with a grandbaby in tow the other days. She loved her Kansas City Chiefs and Holidays and hosted friends and loved ones to cheer on a victory or ring in the New Year. Nancy was preceded in death by grandparents Robert and Jane Stowe; Vernon and Martha Mulkey; stepmother Judy Mulkey; stepfather Bob Hinkle and her precious grandson Jacob Francis. She is survived by her husband Daniel Francis; parents Jerry Mulkey and Randy Hinkle; daughters Nikki Dickey; Carrie Sandberg and husband John; son Jonathan Francis and wife Kirsten; sisters Timi Laggner; Jane Kern and husband Tim; brother Christopher Mulkey; grandchildren Ashton, Emma, Victoria, Brenden, Caleb, London and many other loved ones.
