Sharon Ann Francis, 62 Independence, MO passed away Oct. 1, 2009. Services will be 10 am, Wed., Oct. 7, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Youth Fund at RLDS Zarahemla Branch, 502 S.W. 17th St., Blue Springs MO 64015.
Sharon was born Nov. 20, 1946 in Pasadena, CA. She graduated from Graceland College and then earned her Masters in Education from UMKC. She taught school in the Independence School District for twenty-three years, retiring in 2003. She then taught education math at Avila University. Sharon was a member of the NCTM-ASCD, MCTM and NEA. She was active in church work as well and sang in the Messiah Choir. She was a member of RLDS Zarahemla Branch in Blue Springs where she taught Jr. High Sunday School, was the music coordinator and sang in the choir. She enjoyed Creative Memories Scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting, quilting, basket weaving and sewing.
Sharon was preceded in death by her mother Velma Engle and dear uncle J.C. Stuart. She is survived by daughters Shauna L. Brentana and husband Tom, Grand Rapids, MI; Shannon K. McMilian and husband Scott, Greenwood, MO; Shelley L. Blackwell and husband Bill, Edwardsville, KS; father Boyd Engle, Independence, MO; sister Janet Garner and husband Mike, Yorba Linda, CA; niece Alison Wapato and husband Lee, Huntington Beach, CA; nephew Aaron Garner, and wife Keeley, Twenty-nine Palms, CA; and seven grandchildren.
