Gerald Freund

Gerald Allen Freund, 73, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Graveside Services 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Gerald was born February 14, 1937 in Cole Camp, MO to Henry and Amy (Bloomcamp) Freund. Mr. Freund entered the U.S. Marine Corp at 17 and proudly served for six years. He retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant after 25 years of dedicated service. Gerald also worked for Lord & Associates for 15 years. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and going to the Casino. He will be remembered for his kind and generous nature and the interesting stories he had to tell his family and friends. Mr. Freund is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary (Rogers) Freund; daughters Vickie O’Bryan, Carla Hill; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister Delores Heisterberg.
