Jean C. Gandy, 87, Independence, MO passed away Mon. April 12, 2010 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Gandy was born March 21, 1923 in Breckenridge, MO the daughter of Carter E. and Hallie O. (Halstead) Page. After graduating from Northeast High School, she went on to work several years at various positions before devoting the greater part of her life as a homemaker to her family. She was also very devoted to her faith and was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church in Independence. Throughout her life, she remained involved in current events and frequently supported the many organizations that were near & dear to her heart. Though she enjoyed good food, movies, animals, the Royals and the Chiefs, her family remained the most important part of her life. Her spirit, wit, kindness, charm and integrity endeared her to all that met her and will be what is missed the most for those of us left behind.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thomas B Gandy.
Survivors include her three children: Mary Hilker of Independence and her fiancé, Dave Halstead, John Gandy and his wife Jane of Denver, CO, and James Gandy of Independence; grandchildren, Suzanne Hilker, Teresa Hilker, Stefanie Gandy and Michael Gandy; great granddaughter, Camelia Gandy; sister Joanne Bollinger; and her beloved dog, Nikki.
