K. Darlene Gardner

Kathryne “Darlene” Gardner, 78, Independence, MO passed away March 19, 2010. Services will be 2 pm, Wed. March 24, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 6- 8 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Darlene was born Feb. 13, 1932 in Birmingham, IA and graduated from high school there. She later attended Cottey College in Nevada, MO. She married Robert D. Gardner on April 2, 1959. They lived in Nevada, MO from 1965 until 1987 when they moved to Independence. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #3717 in Sugar Creek. She enjoyed ceramics, needlepoint, puzzles, fishing, people watching and woodworking.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Robert D. Gardner in 2007. She is survived by daughters Barbara Gardner; Sandy Harris and husband Joe, all of Independence, MO; son Mike Gardner and wife Beth, Stilwell, KS; brother Lloyd “Glen” Standley, Pleasant Hope, MO; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and extended family in California.
