Permelia Gardner

Permelia J. “Per” Gardner, 89, of Kansas City, MO peacefully passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at North Kansas City Hospital with her family by her side. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Per was born May 29, 1921 in Macon County, MO to Ira and Permelia (Richardson) Barton, the youngest of nine children. She spent many years giving love and attention as a daycare provider. Mrs. Gardner is survived by her son Lee Gardner and wife Elizabeth; daughter Lou Gardner and husband Robert; grandchildren Amy (David), Jonathan, David (Joy), Michael, Timothy and Lisa; sisters-in-law Margaret Gardner, Esther Cook, Sue Barton. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert L. “Pete” Gardner, Sr. in 1996.
