Ruth Garrett

Ruth Florence (McVicker) Garrett, 89, Independence, MO passed away Jan. 28, 2009. Services will be 2 pm, Sat., Jan. 31, 2009 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; interment at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at the funeral home.
Ruth was born Oct. 8, 1919 in Eagle Grove, IA. She and her husband Walter Ray Garrett lived in Ft. Worth for forty-three years before moving to Independence in 1995. She enjoyed growing and canning vegetables, camping and fishing. She was a life-long member of the RLDS Church and loved to read the Scriptures. She was a good “Prayer Warrior”.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 2004; twin sister Margaret Fincham; sisters Alice Gabrielson, Hazel Jones; brothers Clifford McVicker and Jay McVicker. She is survived by daughters Connie Spivey and husband David, Blue Springs, MO; Donna English and husband Paul, Independence, MO; Carol Howell and husband David, Texarkana, AR; sister Helen Colyer, Independence, MO; brothers David McVicker and wife Harriett, Independence, MO; Danny McVicker and wife Carla, Bevier, MO; sister Vicki Ross, Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren Keith Vanderbilt; Eric English and wife Sarah; Aaron Spivey; Jeff English; great-grandchildren Nick, Abbey and Livi English.
