Gary Lee Klein

Gary Lee Klein, born on October 30, 1951, in Sedalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He was 73 years old.

A proud graduate of Truman High School, Gary dedicated many years of his life to working as a laborer at a lumberyard. His diligence and strong work ethic were evident to all who knew him. He also served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, embodying a spirit of service that he carried throughout his life.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Gary found him to be a quiet man, yet once he felt comfortable, his jovial spirit would shine through, filling familiar settings with laughter and joy.

Gary was an avid reader with a particular fondness for mystery novels and wrote and published his own novel, "Only by Blood," a testament to his creative spirit. He was a passionate MU fan and the Kansas City Chiefs, often sharing in the camaraderie and excitement of the games.

Family was extremely important to Gary, and he treasured the time spent with his nephews as they grew up, creating lasting memories that will forever resonate in their hearts. Family was at the heart of Gary’s life. He also loved to dog sit for family whenever he could, finding joy in the companionship they provided.

Gary Lee Klein is survived by his son, Shawn Klein; sisters, Karen Hawman and Sherry Gustin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dalta (Homan) Klein.

A visitation will be held on September 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Speaks Suburban Chapel located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Floral Hills East Cemetery, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee's Summit, MO 64086.
