Gary Wayne Roach, born on August 21, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on September 18, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, after a long-fought battle with Parkinson's disease. He was a devoted father and husband, known for his kind heart, generosity, and unwavering love for those around him.
Gary's early education laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors. He graduated from Sherwood High School and went on to achieve his bachelor’s degree at Central Missouri State University. His dedication and commitment to excellence resonated throughout his career as a utility worker for Kansas City Power and Light, where he made significant contributions over the years. A proud member of IBEW for 38 years, Gary exemplified what it meant to be a team player. His humility shone through in everything he did, ensuring that whenever he undertook a task, he would accomplish it with utmost care and quality. Gary enjoyed watching Missouri sports, particularly the Chiefs and Royals. He cherished the moments spent watching games and attending them in person whenever possible, enjoying the camaraderie and excitement that accompanied each event. Family and friends who knew Gary will remember him fondly for his remarkable character and the impact he had on their lives. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will not be forgotten.
Gary's passing is preceded by his parents, Forrest and Ester (Gould) Roach. His legacy lives on through his children, Sabrina Roach, Michael Roach, Jason Roach, and Eric Roach; his siblings, Bryan Roach and Kevin Roach; his grandson, Kayden Roach; his former wife, Dolores Roach, and many cousins.
A memorial visitation will be held in his honor on September 27, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St. S, Independence, MO 64055.
