Shirley Lee Gates, 83, Independence, MO passed away Jan. 7, 2018. Services will be private. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery. Shirley was born Oct. 23, 1934 in Kansas City, MO and graduated from East High School.
She was a supervisor at Hancock Fabric on Noland Road in Independence for twelve years before retiring in 1996. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. Shirley is survived by her husband of sixty-four years Everett “Gene” Gates, of the home; son David Gates and wife Jane, Independence, MO; daughter Gina Brashear and husband Michael, Lee’s Summit, MO; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
