Kathy Geller

November 25, 1951 — October 30, 2011

Kathy Lee Geller, 59, Parkville, MO passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 30, 2011. A memorial visitation will be held 6-8 pm, Wed. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery will be private.
She was born Nov 25, 1951 in Kansas City, MO. She retired from a career as an elementary school teacher and Chapter 1 reading specialist. Kathy earned her BS in Education from University of MO Columbia and her MS in Education from Central State University in Edmond, OK.
In order to indulge her love of travel, after retiring she graduated from the International Tour Management Institute (San Francisco, CA) and the Dale Carnegie Public Speaking Course. She ultimately reached the pinnacle of her new career by leading group tours as a Tour Manager with prestigious Maupintour before becoming a crew member as the Purser on the historic Mississippi River Paddle Ship Delta Queen. Kathy lead groups to over 142 domestic and foreign destinations on every continent save Antarctica.
For the last seven years, Kathy was the On-site Supervisor for the Destination Management Co. Agenda:Kansas City. She was able to combine her passion for attention to detail with her gift for organization and control as she lead group transportation programs for up to 3,000 guests. During these programs, she demanded perfection from herself and those working for her.
When Kathy had free time, she enjoyed quilting, searching for treasures at area Thrift Stores and developed her skill as a consummate jig-saw puzzle expert.
Kathy has finally rejoined her beloved Mother.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Betty Jane (Edwards) Huffman, her Father Waller Irvin Huffman, and her sister Sue Elaine (Huffman) Young.
She is survived and missed by Mitchell D. Geller, husband, Parkville, MO; Melody Sue Young, niece, Independence, MO; Evie Lynn (Young) Rein, niece, Trinity, FL; Natasha Joy Rein, great niece, Trinity, FL and Lois Yvonne Huffman, aunt, Independence, MO.
