Dixie L. George, 72, of Independence, MO passed away March 28, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 19 at Harmony Heights Missionary Baptist Church, 1701 N. Salem Drive, Independence, MO. Contributions may be made to KU Medical Center for Polycystic Kidney Disease Research.
Dixie was born August 3, 1935 in Strawn, Kansas to Charles and Margaret (Whitehurst) Duncan. She attended Emporia High School and then married Thomas E. George in Kansas City, Kansas on August 31, 1957. Dixie retired as a cook for the Ft. Osage School District in 1995 after 19 years of service. She was a member of the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, the Eastern Star #329, the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles #385, and VFW Auxiliary #3976. Dixie was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in 2005 and is survived by two brothers, Francis Duncan and his wife Ella of Emporia, KS, and Norman Duncan and his wife Barbara of Meridian, ID; step mother, Kathryn Bass; sister-in-law, Donna Larson of Pekin, IL; three nieces and five nephews
