Pansy Jane George, 98, Independence, MO died on July 25, 2010 at the Shirkey Leisure Acres Nursing Home in Richmond, MO. Pansy was born on January 5, 1912 near Linkville in Platte County, MO to Wiley T. Garton and Mary Zelma Pancake Garton. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1930 and was married to Everett George on December 16, 1930. Pansy was a faithful member of the Mount Washington United Methodist Church in Independence and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army. She was also a retired employee of the Kansas City, Missouri School District, working as a school cafeteria manager. Her family was the center of her life and she lived in the family home for sixty-two years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, one brother, Algon Garton and one sister, Virginia Runyon. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Bonnie George of Richmond, MO, Gene and Vicky George of Oak Grove, MO, Howard and Ruth George of Grandview, MO, and Al and Patti George of Independence, MO. Other survivors include numerous nephews and nieces, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 28 at Mount Washington United Methodist Church, 584 S. Arlington Ave., Independence. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services. The family suggests contributions be made to the Mount Washington United Methodist Church in memory of Pansy.
