Robert Gerardy

Robert D. Gerardy, 67, of Kansas City, MO passed away April 21, 2010 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was born October 27, 1942 to Howard Dale and Dorothy (Dodson) Gerardy. He attended Clay County schools and graduated from Clay County Community High School in 1960. He graduated from Kansas State with a degree in Milling Science in 1964. In 1966, Robert married Georgia Harmony. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Robert retired from Roadway Express in 2005. Robert was a long-time and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Gerardy; two sons, Scott Gerardy, Albuquerque, NM, Steven Gerardy and wife Jody, Woodbury, MN; four grandchildren, Chelsea Read, Emily Read, Chloe Gerardy and Evan Gerardy; mother, Dorothy Gerardy; two brothers, Harlan Gerardy, Marc Gerardy and wife DeAnna; and a host of other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Howard Dale Gerardy. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. service at the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, 100 N. Pleasant St., Independence, MO on Monday, April 26, 2010. A second visitation will take place from 5-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 26th, at Neill Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, KS. A graveside service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Independence or the American Cancer Society.
