Gerold Lee Young

Gerold (Jerry) Lee Young, 81, of Oak Grove, MO, passed away on November 7, 2023.

Jerry was born on November 17, 1941, to Jim and Mae Young, at home in St. Louis, MO.  After Jerry graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1964, he went on to attend Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO.

In 1963, Jerry met the love of his life, Jeanne Rainwater, at church in Dupo, Illinois.  Jerry and Jeanne were married on August 28, 1964, and went on to have three children, Brian, David, and Michael.

While attending seminary, Jerry started his first job at KCTV 5 as a film editor, kickstarting a 30-year career in television advertising.

Jerry was predeceased by his father, Jim Young, his mother, Mae Young, his brother, Jim Young, and his son, Brian Young.  Jerry is survived by his wife Jeanne, children David, Michael, and Crystal, grandchildren Lindsay, Barrett, and Maylee, and sister Carolyn Knight.

Services will be held at the Buckner United Methodist Church at 109 S. Hudson St., Buckner, MO, 64106, on November 18 at 11:00 a.m.  At Jerry’s request, a brief service will be followed by a reception at the church for all who knew and loved him.
