Dianna Louise Gibler (Boice)

December 11, 1941 — May 22, 2014

Dianna Louise (Boice) Gibler passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 22, 2014 after losing a 8 month fearless battle against lung cancer. Dianna was born on December 11, 1941 in Kansas City, KS to Willard and Mildred (Friend) Boice.She graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1959. She was united in marriage July 23, 1961 to Maurice Gibler, in Independence, Mo. She went on to attend CMSU and graduated with a major in vocal music, as well as a Bachelors of Science degree in Education in 1963. Upon graduation from CMSU, she taught vocal music for the Independence School district for 2 years. In the 1960's, she was a member of the Auditorium Chorale. In 1968, she joined the Sweet Adeline's Quartet traveling to sing until 1970. Dianna also was a teacher for the Blue Springs school district from 1973-1983, teaching elementary school. All the while during her spare time she was directing church choirs for both children and adults and well as giving private vocal and piano lessons to area residents. In 1980, she graduated with a Master's Degree in Education. She retired from the Blue Springs School district in 1983. She was a member of the Schola Cantorum from 1999-2001. She has been an original member of the Independence Messiah for over the last 4 decades and sang as a soprano for the newly formulated Independence Messiah for the 2012 season. She had also been a member of the Jacomo Chorale since 1990. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years Maurice Gibler of Bates City, as well as daughters Michelle Stilwell and husband Mark of Bates City, Melody Wyzard and husband Jim of Grain Valley, one son Matthew Gibler of Bates City; grandchildren Kristen Royston, Danielle Stilwell, Gabe Stilwell, Ashley Reeves, Max Gibler, Kaylee Wyzard, Grace Gibler, Joey Gibler, Nick Gibler, Cole Gibler and TJ Wyzard, her mother Mildred Boice-Dahl of Blue Springs two brothers, David Boice and wife Kathy of Ogden, UT and Dick Boice and wife Lauren of Green Valley, AZ . A memorial visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at Speaks Suburban Chapel on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 10:00 with graveyard services at Blue Springs Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Centerpoint Medical Staff nurses for their tender care given as well as Dr. Robert Talley, M.D, for his compassionate demeanor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Missionary Restoration Branch Church 3415 N Elsea Smith Road Buckner, Mo 64016.
