Gerald Wayne Gibson, 57, of Bates City, MO, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2004 in Kabul, Afghanistan. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-9:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, in the chapel. Gerald was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. He worked as a Kansas City Police Officer for 23 years. While working for the KCPD, he was a trainer for the K-9 unit, as well as a member of the Bomb Squad. After his police work for the KCPD, he went on to own and run his own dog training business. He also owned his own bar for ten years in Grain Valley. Gerald was an active man, who played softball, team pool and played his guitar in his spare time. Gerald is survived by his wife, Kathy Gibson; children, Angie and husband Dan Jaeger, Heather and husband Jarrod Summers, and Bill and wife Jenna Gibson; grandchildren, Jake, Brittany, Jennifer and Colin Gibson, Logan Easton, Justin and Danny Jaeger and Alexis Summers; two brothers; one sister; and a large extended family of close friends that he had collected over the years. Gerald was a loving husband and father who dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren, and was adored by them.
