Patsy Ruth Gish, 79, passed away on September 27, 2015, in Kansas City. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, September 29, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 603 N. Jennings Rd., Independence, MO 64056. Contributions may be made to the church in her memory.
Patsy was born on June 27, 1936, in Holdonville, OK, to David and Cora (Whitton) Freeman. She attended Holdonville High School briefly before relocating to St. Joseph, MO with her family, where she then went to Pickett High. There she met Dale Gish, and they wed on July 14, 1954. Dale enlisted in the Air Force, where he and Patsy moved to various bases around the country for 20 years while raising their family. They settled in Independence, and Patsy worked in the claims department for GEHA. She was a member of her church for many years, and enjoyed helping in the food pantry and clothes closet. She is also remembered for her love of fishing, feeding the hummingbirds, mahjong, and the Red Hat Society. She was easygoing, but had a quick wit, and was loved by so many.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dale Gish; sons, Harry (Paula) Gish and Allen (Wendy) Gish; grandchildren, Brandon Bogue, Brett Bogue, Elizabeth Gish, Grace Gish, and Lydia Gish; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Serenity, and Abby; sister, Janet (Garland) Toland, and brothers, Jack (Peggy) Freeman and Dick (Judy) Freeman.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurane Bogue.
