Mable E. Glass, 86, of Independenc, MO passed away on Thursday, February 05, 2009 at Seasons Care Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or Christ United Methodist Church. Mable was born April 23, 1922 in Independence, MO to Stanley and Mabel (Kingcomb) Wallis. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1940 and the College of Commerce in Kansas City in 1941. Mable was united in marriage to Houston B. Glass on July 12, 1943. Mrs. Glass worked as a secretary at Meriman Mortgage in Kansas City and in 1982 retired from the Kansas City School District. She was a member of Watson Memorial Church, and Christ United Methodist Church and the Asbury Sunday School Class. Mrs. Glass enjoyed playing cards and cooking for her family and for special occasions. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Houston B. Glass; sons Richard Glass and wife Jan, Bruce Glass and wife Beverly; grandson Christopher Glass. She was preceded in death by her brother Archie Wallis and sister Ada Huntley.
