Michael Joseph Gleason, Capt., USAF Ret., 78, Independence, MO passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013.

Michael was born January 20, 1935 in The Bronx, New York the son of Michael and Isabelle (Katz) Gleason. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. While in the Air Force, Michael received his Masters Degree and Law Degree. He also owned and operated Quality Tax and Accounting for over 20 years. Michael was a devout Catholic and a Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was also a member of Tirey J. Ford American Legion Post 21. Michael enjoyed traveling around the world, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife, Doris Gleason; daughter, Debra Tonge and grandson, Stephen Tonge; step-children, Kathie Weishar-Dalzell, Ellen Weishar-Cousins, Anne Weishar-Cotton, Teresa Weishar-Nilsson, Doyle Weishar, Greg Weishar, Kevin Weishar and their spouses; 20 step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; 600 N. Liberty St., Independence, MO. 64050. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sister’s of St. Francis (http://www.osfholyeucharist.org/).
